The church was built in 1738 on a project by Filippo Juvarra. It's front is a classical style pronaos build in 1835. The vast inside of the church has a single nave. On the side of the church there rises the San Filippo Oratory that was built on drawing attributed to Juvarra. This church is one of the most beautiful churches in Turin. The problem with it is finding it. It is hidden inside a very normal looking building on three sides which as you take the last corner you fall on a row of columns and a great big cast iron gate. Entering through these two large corrugated gates and then through two huge beautifully carved wooden doors, the beauty of any Italian church amplified by the shock of the hidden church starts to seep into you. The beautiful altar [Above left] adds to this awesome site. The sudden change of noise, from the blare of the streets to the calm of the church relaxes all the senses and creates a calm unfindable anywhere else.
